Abstract
The Cini Foundation of Venice is still organized in research
Institute and some of them are in possession of precious collections relating performing
arts.
The Institute for letters, theatre and melodrama retains the important collection of opera
librettos that was of dott. Rolandi, made with more of than 36.000 rare exemplars. Bound
to this estate, the Institute keeps a rich specialistic library on opera and in
particolar, as it is born a section dedicated to the stage design for music drama. Beside,
the Institute is also provided with an theatral iconographic archivium that was born like
complement to the Rolandi collection, but during the years, it has acquired more autonomy
and now it amount to more than 20.000 photographic images. During his life, this Institute
had many donations from theatre people and their family like Eleonora Duse and Aurel
Milloss.
The Institute for Music keeps rich collections concerning musicians of XX century:
Gianfrancesco Malipiero, Alfredo Casella, Nino Rota. Olga Rudge, Egidina Sartori, Camillo
Togni and the musical section of the material from Aurel Milloss.
The Ottorino Respighi estate, presented by the wife of the composer, is an interesting way
to make alive an historical acquisition.
More, Italian Institute Antonio Vivaldi of Cini Foundation is the most important place
where you can study the complete work of venetian composer with the wide material picked
up in 50 years of life.
And furthermore, the Institute of History of Art keeps many original scenographic drawings
from the Bibena family to Pietro Gonzaga, Francesco Fontanesi, Alessandro
Sanquirico,Antonio Basoli, Felice Donghi and many others artists and painters untill the
and of XIX century.
Now, this estate, made with a very different material, is organized in many way. Same is
already part of a catalogue made with informatic standards, other is expecting for a new
organisation. My paper could try to explane the problems that we find in proceding this
work.
