Article 9:
The General Assembly
shall elect a President, two Vice-Presidents, a Secretary
General, a Treasurer and four other members of Council to
serve on the Executive Committee. The General Assembly
shall also elect seven other members of the Council. All
members of the Council shall be elected for two years and
shall be eligible for one re-election and then again only
after an intervening period of two years, except in the
case of the Secretary-General and the Treasurer. No
country may have more than one representative on the
Council. Nominations for these elections must be
submitted to the Secretary-General at least three months
before the date of the General Assembly. The General
Assembly shall ratify the two-year programme of
activities of the Association as drawn up by the Council.
It shall also receive reports including the financial
report every year of the Executive Committee and, if
approved, accept them. The Executive Committee shall send
to all Members the Agenda of the next General Assembly at
least two months before the date of the next meeting.
The General Assembly may
also elect Honorary Presidents who may attend all
meetings of the Association but with no vote at the
Council or the Executive Committee meetings. Nominations
for this honour shall be sent to the Secretary-General
three months before the date of the General Assembly.
Article 11
Council and Executive
Committee
The Council shall
consist of the President, two Vice-Presidents,
Secretary-General, Treasurer and eleven other members as
elected under Article 9. The Executive Committee is
composed of the President, two Vice-Presidents, the
Secretary-General, the Treasurer and four of the thirteen
other members. The President of the International
Federation for Theatre Research is also a member of the
Council ex officio.
Note:
The following revision
to be substituted for the words underlined in Article 9:
Nominations to fill vacancies on the Council must be
submitted to the Secretary-General at least twenty-four
hours before the date and time of the General Assembly
and must be proposed and seconded by accredited members
with the consent of the candidate. Elections to the
Council should be conducted as far as possible with a
view that no country should have more than one
representative and that members should represent the
range of the various activities of the Association.
