The work with videorecording in the Russian State Arts LibrarySilina Tamara Documents et Témoignages des Arts du Spectacle: Pourquoi et Comment? / Collecting and Recording the Performing Arts: Why and How? Société Internationale des Bibliothèques et des Musées des Arts du Spectacle / International Association of Libraries and Museums of the Performing Arts 20ème Congrès International / 20th International Congress Antwerp 4-7 September 1994. Acta. Antwerp : 1995, p. 95 The new trend of the work of the Russian State Arts Library has become the creation of the stocks of videorecords incorporating films, plays, circus performances, variety shows and TV programs. The foundation of this stock dates back to 1988. The Russian State Arts Library is the only library which has taken up acquiring the videostock. It is the All-Russian State stock of videorecords. These videorecords are used for education, research as well as for professional and creative goals but not for commercial ones. The contacts with foreign counterparts have resulted in the exchange and acquisition of video-cassettes with such organisations as the Library of Congress, The Library of the Stanford University, The National Library in Prague. Some videofilms have been acquired from private collections. The videostock consists of two parts: the main stock and the stock designed for the international exchange. The reference system of this stock involves an alphabetic catalogue and personal card files which provide searching by the name of actors, art directors, artists, composers; the topic "The theatre actors in the cinema" being distinguished. The users are scientists, art directors, actors, artists, students, publishers. The work with the videorecords comprises acquisition (selection of plays, purchase and order of the videorecords), keeping the reference and bibliographic system, holding consultations, meetings parties and educational lessons. Great opportunities have been opened for special lessons for students of art institutes, colleges and schools. |
