SIBMAS - International Association of Libraries
and Museums of the Performing Arts

Since 1954 SIBMAS has been the forum for colleagues from all over the world promoting research, practical and theoretical, in the documentation of the performing arts. Besides the organisation of biennial international conferences, SIBMAS members are involved in three permanent projects

• The World Directory on Theatre Museums and Libraries, which was published in its 5th edition in spring 1996, and since March 7, 2002 is accessible in an online version.
• The International Bibliography of Theatre (IBT), published by the Theatre Research Data Centre at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.
• The World Encyclopedia of contemporary Theatre, 6 vol. (1994-2000)

The Executive Committee consists of 16 elected members, presently representing Europe, North America and Australia.

SIBMAS institutional members: universities, departments, libraries and museums specializing in performing arts documentation.

SIBMAS also produces the SIBMAS Directory of Performing Arts Collections and Institutions: a world-wide guide, now in online version.

SIBMAS conferences

Since 1954, biennial conferences were held.
