Symposium “The Archive Speculative: past and present of the Theatre Collection” Allard Pierson
The Allard Pierson is the only place in the Netherlands where a collection is formed about Dutch theatre, and it is a SIBMAS member!
On 27 February 2025, the theatre collection of the Allard Pierson will be 100 years old.
During this anniversary year, with the symposium “The Archive Speculative: past and present of the Theatre Collection”, the Allard Pierson wants to reflect on the past of this unique collection, but also look to the future.
As we all know at SIBMAS, nothing is as ephemeral as the performing arts, which also makes them vulnerable.
In collaboration with the Chair Group Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam and the Theatre in the Netherlands Foundation (TiN), the Allard Pierson is organising this two-day symposium February 27-28, 2025.
The organisers aim not only to reflect on the heritage that constitutes the theatre collection, but also to stimulate new dialogues and collaborations within the cultural sector. This symposium focuses on the importance of archiving for the future of theatre, and how to preserve, expand and reinterpret our heritage.
