Estonian Theatre and Music Museum is now Foundation Estonian History Museum (SA Eesti Ajaloomuuseum)
On the 1st February 2019 Estonian Theatre and Music Museum was merged with Estonian History Museum, so the Foundation Estonian History Museum could be created. After the merging, work with the Estonian theatre and music heritage continues. There are nearly 800 000 items in the museum’s collection and new materials are added constantly. Being part of a larger museum gives the Museum better opportunities to present its collections, organize exhibitions and events. Estonian Theatre and Music Museum is located in Tallinn old town and has nearly 20 000 visitors yearly, including 600 theatre and music researchers. In 2018 Museum’s exhibition ‘Stories and Songs’ was recognized as the best permanent exhibition at the annual Estonian Museum Awards.
