Publication: Poetics and Politics of Repertories

An innovative approach to the notions of memory and repertory in dance
The lifetime of a dance gesture is very long when it finds suitable environments to welcome and maintain it. Classical ballets, as well as contemporary dances, travel and get transformed through time. This critical essay mixes aesthetic, history and anthropology. It aims to defines the conditions of the survival of dance shows through three emblematic repertory cases: the Opéra de Paris, Merce Cunningham (1919-2009) and Dominique Bagouet (1951-1992). This volume is published by the Centre national de la Danse.
